- My photographic journey started a year before University. I knew I wanted to be an artist, but what that meant I wasn’t really sure until I discovered that I could immerse myself in creating imagery with a camera. To hold a camera and capture an image was easy, but to create an image which had impact or created a reaction was something that interested me. I had never really looked at photography in this way, and this was where my journey began. Photographing people seemed to be my passion and after many years working in a studio environment, photographing people, I soon discovered the exciting and varied world of wedding photography.
- Photographing a wedding is so much more than documenting the day and getting creative with a camera. I like to understand my couples and tell their story with an honest and artistic edge. It is quite common to feel nervous with a photographer in the room, but so many times I have been told by couples or guests how much I put them at ease. If people are at ease it gives me the chance to be fully immersed in all the action yet without noticing I am there. This gives me the best chance to capture real images of authentic moments, which is what I pride my work on.
Wedding Photojournalist association
- I was recently accepted into the leading Wedding Photojournalist Association. I was super proud for one of my images to be selected for an award of ‘True Love Captured’ The WPJA are an international body who recognize the best International wedding photographers. A WPJA member exhibits exceptional originality, creativity and have a photojournalism style.
- Winning an award from the WPJA is a fantastic professional recognition, as images are judged by recognized leaders in photojournalism and the craft of photography.
